Fairy tale!

The Spiderwick Chronicles Starring: Freddie Highmore, Sarah Bolger, David Strathairn

More fairy tales from me =D And this time literally.

The Spiderwick Chronicles is based on a book series of the same name. They're about identical twins Simon and Jared Grace (played by Highmore who played Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), their elder sister Mallory (Bolger) and their adventures with goblins, brownies, sprites and elves who are after Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide the children found in their home.

I've read all five books and liked them. I hope this movie won't crush it for me. It's scheduled for release on February 15, 2008 and has apparently been rated PG for scary creature action and violence.

Danger: Math overload!

The Number 23 starring: Jim Carrey, Virginia Madsen and Danny Huston.

A thriller with Jim Carrey in it, should be different. Well, it is.

Although it is directed by Joel Schumacher, it is better than I expected. Much much better than Batman and Robin.
The story is about Walter Sparrow (Carrey) who is too much into a book which was bought by his wife, Agatha (Madsen). He became too obsess with the book as he can actually relates the character in the book as his self. The more scarier part is when the character's life itself is more or less the same as the one he had. The story goes on as he baceme more and more obsessed with it.
Having Jim Carrey acting a thriller movie memang seronok. Ada kelainan. And the movie line, as well as the plot pon boleh tahan. Worth watching. In my case, worth buying the DVD. Ori tau.

Now on sale in Speedy Video for RM26.90. DVD tau.

Good movie. Not Joel's best movie though. Recomended for those yang suke twist in a movie. But not the Syamalan's style la.

Movie? What movie?

Top Secret! starring: Val Kilmer, Omar Sharif, Lucy Gutteridge, Peter Cushing, Micheal Gough and Jeremy Kemp.

This parody is stupid. Not to mention tak masuk akal. But I still love it!

Top Secret would be Val Kilmer's first feature film. If you love Val Kilmer in Batman Forever, then this movie is a must! To see him being silly is something not to be missed. And I watched this more than 6 times already...laughed, rolled on the floor and crying of joy occured everytime I watch this movie. Seriously.
The film tells the story of a young American singer, Nick Rivers (Kilmer) on his tour to East Germany and later on involve in a resistance movement to save a scientist who is the father of a young, beautiful Hillary Flammond (Gutteridge). So tak pasal-pasal this Rivers' adventure started. If you've seen Airplane or Airplane II: the sequel, you'll know how silly it is.
Camera tricks and silly props are used to make it interesting. Here are things that you won't see in the real world:

  1. Motorcycle dier are like horses.
  2. It is possible to have a fireplace up in the sky.
  3. French are funny. Especially when they have foods for their names.
  4. Val Kilmer can sing just like Elvis Presley.
  5. East Germany's train station is definitely fun to watch.
  6. Only in this movie you can see people slide up a pole easily.
  7. Ford Pinto is the most dangerous car ever!
Definitely both stupid and smart movie.

Virus aliens on the loose!

The Invasion starring: Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.

Combination of aliens and zombie. Quite a good movie. Quite scary too.

Its about an extraterrestrial disease spreading around the states after a space shuttle mysteriously crashes on Earth. Carol Bannell (played by Kidman), a psychiatrist from Washington D.C., and her colleague Ben Driscol (played by Craig) discovered that the virus is triggered by the REM sleep, robbing their humanity to become the "better human". As the virus spreads, less people can be trusted and they have to search for Carol's son.

Imagine a world of goods. No war. No hate. No feelings.
